Comparing Colombia & Pakistan

This essay draws interesting comparisons between Colombia and Pakistan, two countries with entrenched insurgencies, drug smuggling, and terrorism. It argues that Colombia has been much more successful in containing its violent extremism over the last 10-20 years, and gives some of the credit to increased effectiveness in policing and intelligence activity.
