Police broker peace in Nigeria

This brief article credits police in Nigeria with convening a 2-day dialogue between a group of herders and a group of farmers who had been in violent conflict over a borderlands dispute. The two groups agreed to end hostilities and forgive past grievances.

  1. Peacekeeping and conflict resolution are the real mandates of police, and not crime fighting which is only one of the tools of keeping peace, by assuaging the vengeful feelings of the victim lest he continues an endless cycle of taking revenge.
