Resistance to community policing in Pakistan

In this candid interview, a high-ranking police official identifies several reasons for weak implementation of community policing in Pakistan, including the perception that it is “fancy policing” and politicians’ fear that better grass-roots policing would undermine their authority. Also “a huge deficit of public-police trust prevails on both sides of the equation; public cannot imagine police sincerely working for them, while the police considers people coming close to them as a danger sign.”
