Migrant smuggling & police corruption in Niger

This article describes rampant police corruption in Agadez, Niger, a key desert town for African migrants being smuggled across the Sahara to Libya and then into Europe. The EU estimates that about 100,000 migrants pass through Niger annually, accounting for about half of those reaching Italy.
