Managing alarm calls

This article reports that police in Calgary, Canada are adopting the “verified response” model for burglary/intrusion alarms, which means they will not respond until the alarm company determines that a real incident is occurring. The PD handles 45 such alarms a day of which 96% are false alarms. The city is also adopting several other measures designed to save resources while still responding to genuine crimes in progress.
