Jakarta Centre’s future

The Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation was created by Indonesia and Australia in 2004 to strengthen counter-terrorism capacity in the wake of the 2002 Bali bombing. Incorporating the centre within the Indonesian National Police is now being considered, but this column suggests adding ASEANAPOL as a strategic partner in order to sustain a regional focus and more flexible operating model.
