Beat policing revived in Bengaluru

This article reports that beat policing will be revived and intensified in Bengaluru, a city in India with over 8 million residents. “The beat constables will have to serve as a nodal point of contact between the local residents and the police station” and will be appraised according to “Regular street corner meetings, beat patrolling, arrests made, [and] monitoring activities of proclaimed offenders.”
