Europol powers updated

This press release announces that a new regulation governing Europol’s powers, structure, and accountability went into effect May 1st. The EU agency was established in 1995 and now has 1,000 staff who primarily assist “national authorities by exchanging information, intelligence analyses and threats assessments” especially related to “terrorism and international crime such as cybercrime, drug smuggling and people trafficking.”
