Police Research in France

Jacques de Maillard and Wes Skogan have a forthcoming book, Policing in France, which is particularly noteworthy because there hasn’t been a great deal of descriptive and analytical writing in English on that topic. In this blog post, they explain that their goal “was to promote a broader understanding of the police system, police practices, and relations between police and the public in France.” They note that French academic research on police got a rather slow start, some 20-30 years later than in the US and UK, but has flourished in recent years. The book aims to make it more accessible to English-language readers.
